Our Lawyers

William E. Foden, J.D.

Bill obtained his Juris Doctor designation from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1982, after attending the University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto. He regularly participates in continuing legal education programs and has received a Certificate in French from Durham College.

Commercial and Residential Real Estate, Mortgage Lending, Commercial Transactions, Wills and Estates are Bill’s practice areas.
 

Bill has been active in the community as a coach, player and volunteer. He maintains membership in the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Durham Law Association and sits on the board of directors of private corporations.

Paul Doucette, B.A. (Hons.), LL.B.

A graduate of St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto, and Queen's Law School, Paul was called to the Bar in 1990.  Paul's practice involves representing clients on residential real estate transactions, the purchase and sale of a business and other corporate matters, as well as providing advice regarding  wills, powers of attorney, estate planning and estate administration.
 

Paul is a member of the Canadian Bar Association.  He is also active in the Durham community through his memberships in the Durham Region Law Association, Durham Contact Business Exchange & the Pickering Old Timers Hockey League. 

Malynn Cowley, B.A. (Hons.), J.D.

​After completing her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and History at the University of Guelph, Malynn received her Juris Doctor graduating with Honours from Bond University.  

Prior to joining Foden, Doucette & Cowley, Malynn articled and worked in family law at a boutique family law firm.  She brings that experience to her work at the firm, where she practices wills & estates, real estate, and corporate & commercial law.  Malynn also serves the public as part-time Duty Counsel in Lindsay, Ontario and is a member of the Durham Region Law Association.

Beth Thompson - Office Manager

With over 20 years at the firm, Beth keeps our office running smoothly.  Beth is an experienced administrator and bookkeeper, relied on by both clients and colleagues for her expertise and her attention to detail.   She has a diploma in Human Resources from Centennial College and experience in the real estate industry, both of which are essential assets at our growing firm.

Outside of work, Beth enjoys watching live performances and spending time with friends and family, including her two crazy dogs.   Beth also has an enviable talent for finding deals, and recently redecorated her entire home on a budget by buying and selling in online communities.
